Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities 14.0 was released

Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities version 14.0 was released several days ago, and it is available for download here.

This post summarizes some information about Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities, and provides links to the official documentation of each tool. You can read more about Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities in the official documentation here.

What is Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities?

Microsoft SQL Server Command Line Utilities are set of tools, which allow us to interact SQL Server (manage SQL Server and SQL Server Data) from command line interface (CLI). The most common tools are probably sqlcmd Utilitybcp Utility, and osql Utility

What’s new?

The latest release of SQL Server Command Line Utilities 14.0, extends the uses of Azure Active Directory (AD) authentication for Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Warehouse and support the bulk copy program utility (bcp) for Azure AD user/password and integrated AUTH (see BCP Utility Details ).

Get the information about current installation:

Using the command line tool osql, we can execute the command: osql –L

Installation issue

During the installation you will notice the message inform you that you install version 13. This is a mistake in the installation file. You can confirm the current version that you have and the version after the installation complete using the command above.
