Good day, and welcome to the TechNet wiki summit 2015.

This is how I opened my lecture yesterday…

This simple sentence is very meaningful! It hides so much in two words. Usually when I start a lecture I open with “Good morning” or Good evening” or something that make sense to the current audience at the current time in the current place. In this case, our event appeals to variety audience which engage with variety technologies, from all over the world in different time-zones.  In my opinion this is the main feature of the TechNet WIKI summit.

There are amazing group of Speakers, Community Leaders, and Experts from different countries in this event! You can find people that using different technologies like: Azure, Active Directory, BizTalk Server, DevOps, Exchange Server, Visual C#, SQL Server BI, SharePoint, Transact-SQL, Windows Phone, and more!

Unfortunately the number of people that came to the event in general, and to each live meetings, was not as expected. It should be much higher next time. Yes, I think we need to start planning TechNet WIKI summit 2016… It is just around the corner :-)

Most of the sessions were recorded and probably in the next week or so, you will be able to see and hear them all. Those sessions that were not recorded live, might be recorded latter on, without the audience. So In the meantime till the next meeting you have what to see :-)

Like any newly born creature, some speakers had small glitches and technical issues, but these were fixed fast. Next year everyone will be more experience :-)

Most of the lecturers had no experience with Live Meeting application, like me for example, but this is a simple issue and with a simple testing that we have done before the meeting, we could learn the basic idea and to prepare ourselves.

I must to say, although I did lectured in English in the past (lots), especially for developers/DBAs small groups in companies, I had no experience in the combination of (1) lecturing in English (2) at global event, (3) which is online (virtual) event. That was a bit strange to talk to my screen, without seen the audience reactions. I always prefer to talk in person :-)

SO, what have I done so far?

I lectured at two sessions till now:

* On DAY 2 - March, 18th GMT 17:45, I talked about Transact-SQL language.

I focused on the power of “INSTEAD OF” Triggers. Starting with some information about the TechNet WIKI and the Transact-SQL on the TechNet WIKI, I continue to the main subject of the session.

I need to thanks Saeid Hasani, for recording my session. I have just listened to the recording and I was really pleased with the session. I hope that you will too :-). I actually think that my recording can be used as simple introduction or tutorial to triggers on SQL Server in general. I started from the general idea of triggers and moved to different types of triggers, till I focused on INSTEAD OF trigger. I included some demos, codes and general comments.

You can download all the codes including the presentation in this link: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/TNWIKI-2015-The-power-of-442b2c66

* On DAY 2 - March, 18th GMT 18:30, I had the honor and pleasure to share a lecture with two additional speakers: Sandro Pereira, Senior Software Developer at DevScope and Microsoft Integration MVP, and Peter Geelen, Senior Premier Field Engineer at Microsoft, and TechNet Wiki Administrator.

In this session we talked about the TechNet WIKI as a Social Media. We mentioned the TechNet Wiki on Facebook & Twitter, TechNet Wiki Magazine, TechNet Wiki Blog, TechNet Wiki forums, and more…

At this time the TechNet WIKI summit is still in progress and I have to say that it is fun. More information… Will be posted in a day or so… after the event will end and I will had more time to sit and write :-)

* Please follow the TechNet WIKI facebook group and my facebook homepage. I will post the recording as soon as I will have time to add opening and closing to the recordings.
